The length is typically to your knees.

And most distinctively, the fur lined hood covers your head and extends forwards to keep the wind off your face, including underneath your chin. This highly recognisable "snorkel" design give this coat its name.

Hugely popular in the 80s, I always wanted a green one but I only had the most common navy blue.
